8 New Year’s resolutions to set in January 2022
A new year is upon us and with that comes the time to improve yourself personally and professionally. Setting new goals and resolutions is a great way to make sure you’re being the best version of yourself that you can be. If you’re looking for some ideas of good resolutions for salespeople, check these out.
Ideas for New Year’s Resolutions for Salespeople:
- Make new connections.
- Get out of your comfort zone.
- Increase your knowledge.
- Learn a non-work related skill.
- Evaluate your goals and set realistic timelines.
- Plan a vacation to allow a reset.
- Allow yourself time for exercise every day.
- Find a mentor.
#1 Make new connections.
Joining groups on Linkedin and attending events related to your field are a great way to expand your connections. Making connections and actively finding ways to network will lead to new personal and professional opportunities.
#2 Get out of your comfort zone.
We all struggle to get out of the comfortable personal or professional positions we put ourselves in and this can look different for everyone. Whatever skill, event, or conversation that you’ve avoided because it scares you go do it. 2022 will be the year that you learn to get out of your comfort zone and improve yourself in so many ways.
#3 Increase your knowledge.
If you aren’t already, look for sales related books or podcasts that you can learn from in small increments throughout the day. It doesn’t have to be sales related but if you’re looking for more professional development, this is a great practice to start.
#4 Learn a non-work related skill.
Learning new professional skills are important but to become more of a well-rounded person you need to develop skills outside of your job. This can be anything you want from rock climbing and painting to coding. Whatever skill you choose, set time aside to learn something new for yourself outside of a professional setting.
#5 Evaluate your goals and set realistic timelines.
It’s always helpful as you’re setting goals to write them all down. We suggest putting your goals somewhere you look everyday to remind yourself of what you’re working towards. After writing out all of your goals, start setting timelines where it makes sense so you can mark resolutions off the list as you accomplish them.
#6 Plan a vacation to allow a reset.
Don’t underestimate the value of giving yourself a break. Whether it’s a weekend of 2 weeks, planning a vacation or getaway you’re excited about gives you something to look forward to and a way to allow your brain and body to reset after being a productive salesperson.
#7 Allow yourself time for exercise every day.
Movement and exercise is a necessary part of staying healthy. You don’t have to run 5 miles to be healthy, but set an hour or even 30 minutes everyday to do something active like stretching, running, basketball, anything that makes you happy. You’ll be surprised at the positive impact this will have on your mind and body.
#8 Find a mentor.
A mentor can be anyone you look up to or want to be like. Finding a mentor can mean connecting with someone in person at your company or finding an inspirational mentor and reading their books or listening to their podcasts. Whatever mentor you choose, find a way to learn something new from them that’ll positively impact your personal and professional life.
